Where can I buy MSI Titan GT77 12UHS-064 Gaming Laptop?

You can buy this gaming laptop directly from the MSI website. It’s also available on XOTICPC, B&H, and Evolution Computers for $4,299. Amazon also carries the product for $3,199.

Design and Display

The Titan GT77 has a metal design with an aluminum lid and it only comes in ‘Core Black’ color, making it one of the flashiest gaming laptops. The laptop has an interior and bottom panel and the rear sticks out. While there are no sharp edges, the design isn’t that impressive despite the metal finish.

MSI’s newest laptop features an RGB light bar at the rear of the laptop and has a dragon logo with colorful lighting. The keyboard has Cherry MX Ultra-Low switches with SteelSeries RGB backlight. But the screen sometimes wobbles a little as you type on the keyboard. This is a big and bulky laptop weighing 6.82 pounds. Plus! The power supply of 300W makes portability an issue.

Since it has a whopping 300W power supply, the GT77 Titan is fitted with a powerful cooling system consisting of 4 fans and 7 heat pipes running across the laptop. Moreover, there are 6 air exhausts to blow hot air away from the components. But MSI still managed to keep the Titan GT77 size smaller compared to the previous designs.

Along with desktop-grade computing components, Titan GT77 has a phase-change thermal pad for improving thermal conductivity under heavy loads.

MSI Titan GT77 12UHS-064 Gaming Laptop has a 17.3-inch display and comes in Ultra HD resolution with a 120Hz refresh rate. Although we feel like a refresh rate of 360Hz would have been better, it has a 4K display. So, we’re not complaining. The full HD webcam is also a great feature on the Titan GT77.

Performance

This laptop is powered by a 12th Generation Intel Core i9-12900HX processor, with a clock speed of 5GHz and Nvidia RTX 3080 Ti graphics. There are a total of 4 RAM slots and 4 M.2 slots, which allows you to expand up the internal memory to 128GB.

Another fantastic feature of the MSI Titan GT77 12UHS-064 Gaming Laptop is that it’s one of the first laptops to support PCIe 5.0 SSDs, providing speed twice as much as the PCIe 4.0. This promises extra upgradeability, which is a plus.

The raw performance of the Titan GT77 is pretty awesome. And while the display is okay for indoor use, the screen doesn’t super super-bright even at full brightness. Still, the contrast is good. The speakers are located on both sides and the front left and right sides, and it sounds good, not great. The sound gets loud and there is some bass, but it’s nothing too impressive.

Despite the amazing performance, MSI Titan GT77 12UHS-064 Gaming Laptop costs $4,299 and that’s almost too expensive, especially considering all the other available options on the market. So this laptop is only to be considered by those willing to sacrifice that much money for their gaming experience.

Ports and Battery Life

On the left side, the laptop has two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports, a 3.5mm audio combo jack, and a UHS-III SD card slot. The third USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A port is located on the right side along with two Thunderbolt 4 Type-C ports, HDMI outputs, 2.5-gigabit ethernet, and a Mini DisplayPortBut you can’t use the Type-C ports to charge the laptop. Also, the ethernet is not facing the way we’re used to.

MSI Titan GT77 12UHS-064 Gaming Laptop has a battery life of 5 hours as tested. Since there are other DTR category laptops with the worst battery life, the battery life of the Titan GT77 is good. But it’s not amazing compared to the AMD laptops.

The Display Power Saver is enabled by default in this MSI laptop. But the problem is that this feature lowered the screen’s refresh rate down to 60Hz when we unplugged the charger. But plugging it back in improves the refresh rate back to the original.

The Final Verdict

MSI Titan GT77 12UHS-064 Gaming Laptop packs top-shelf hardware and is powered by Intel’s latest 12th Gen Core mobile processor, making its raw performance incredible. MSI finally included the Ultra HD display and there is no shortage of ports. Plus! the cooling system is pretty powerful. But it’s a big and heavy gaming laptop and might be too pricey for most enthusiasts.
